UNC Charlotte Staff Psychiatrist Position Number: 012035

Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time 12 Months per Year

Work Schedule: Typical hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm possible one evening. When appropriate outreach events outside business hours.

FLSA Status: Exempt Division Department Counseling & Health Serv. (Adm)

Salary Range: $190,000-$191,257

Primary Purpose of Department: The primary purpose of Student Health is to promote and support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students, enabling them to succeed academically and personally. This is achieved through preventive care, medical treatment, mental health services and health education.

Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to support the mental health and well-being of students by providing acute and primary psychiatric to the student population. This includes intakes, evaluation and medicine management.

Summary of Position Responsibilities: Perform clinical evaluations and medical assessments, prescribe medications and monitor their use in a therapeutic setting, provide consultation, collaboration, and training to the clinical staff of the Student Health Center and Counseling Center, and facilitate the processing of voluntary and involuntary hospitalizations.

Minimum Education/Experience: Requires an M.D. or D.O., completion of an ACGME accredited residency in psychiatry; eligibility for unrestricted medical license in the State of North Carolina and unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration license; and board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
