Physician Assistant /Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Opportunity in Nags Head, North Carolina: Live and Work in One of the Top Coastal Locations in the Country

ECU Health Physicians, in partnership with Outer Banks Health, located in Nags Head, North Carolina, are seeking a Physician Assistant or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join their growing program. Applicants with at least 3 years of experience are preferred. This unique position provides the opportunity to practice behavioral health services in a collaborative care model with the patient’s primary care provider.

Candidate Qualifications:

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide program leadership and oversight of all care provided in Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Services, and psychiatric hospitalist and consultation services
  • Represent Psychiatric Services to Hospital’s administration and participate in administrative meetings and duties as necessary
  • Participate in community-related partnerships
  • Act as liaison with Medical Staff in effort to facilitate timely transitions in care
  • Facilitate timely consult liaison services for acute care consultations
  • Serves as a role model and acts as liaison with psychiatric providers (including distribution of workload and call schedule) in coordination with the Departmental Chair and Dept of Medical Affairs
  • Complete daily rounding and timely documentation on assigned patients
  • Oversee the creation, development and/or implementation of policies and procedures that result in the provision of hospital based psychiatric services
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team that includes providers, nursing, therapy and support staff
  • Provide clinical oversight for hospital employed independently licensed mental health providers (LPCs, LCSWs, etc.) as required. This includes Hospital BH programs such as crisis hotline, mobile crisis, mobile assessment, telehealth, and assessment center services
  • Primary supervising Physician for psychiatric hospital employed APP staff
